You might want to read through this...and make a few corrections....just a suggestion.
I agree though. Thats ridiculous leaving him in for that. |

Excellent breakdown. The only thing I can add is this is a Franchise with a history stained by this EXACT decision. How did that play out last time? |

Therrien showed a lack of respek for Montoya. |

i am elated with this take Ek. Therrien is a joke. You can't do that to anyone, and you are also right that if you had zero intention of putting Price out no matter the circumstances then he shouldn't have even been dressed. It's not like goalies have never played on back to back nights, this actually disgusts me. Montoya played for my Jets and Isles and he played well, my heart goes out to this guy for sure. |

Eklund: Michel Therrien Can't Coach With Any Adversity. Awful Decisions. - Eklund
if they were so talented, it would not have gotten that bad
1. they already lost the game
2. they have a game tonight
3. they clearly didn't respond last year when price went down
I think it's a non story, and the fact they continued to stink in the second and third period clearly proves the 18 skaters needed a wake up call, and I am pretty sure they got it last night

I hope by "star player" you doesn't mean Pacioretty...
And yes, Therrien is a bad coach...
We need Bob Hartley to teach the defense squad how to breakout the puck of the zone with a pass instead of an icing... |

I know the game was lost even by the 8-0 second period result and so Therrien didn't want to put in Price, but why the heck would you still leave Montoya in. The guys confidence is probably through the floor |

I'm not particularly fond of Therrien, but I think he made the right decision here. He has to protect Price, regardless of whose feelings he hurts.
If it had been Price in net though, leaving him in would be a catastrophe. |

I agree it's a weak argument to say Montoya wanted to stay in goal. What professional goalie is going to say, "take me out"?
It's the coach's decision and he needs to make it.
I'm sure Price has played many games back to back before and will again. Going in for half or a third of the game last night would not have unduly strained Carey Price. I get that it's nice to rest your star goalie when you get the chance, but this was the wrong way to go about it. |

he may be, but I am sure he would have shown more effort on the penalty kill than those 4 skaters did, for each attempt |

Couldn't comprehend how Therrien kept his job after last season's results. I get that the organization came to the conclusion that the roster was flawed and Price's absence was a significant factor, but seriously....Therrien is a boob. |

Kevin Weekes went on a rant last night about this. He also commended Montoya for never throwing his arms up or taking to task any of his teammates after a goal. He basically implied that the coach threw him to the wolves and that this was a horrible coaching move. |

For me last night he very well could of lost the room.
Not a Habs fan but I would of considered firing him if I was the owner. |

I don't see the big deal. Price is playing tonight, has injury issues... why risk putting him in?
I'd rather have a backup with hurt feelings than a star goalie out for the year.
No issues here with leaving in a plug backup to get shelled. |

I fully agree on this one Ek, but the team has played like garbage last 3 games now. They literraly rely on Price to bail them out It wasnt like that the first 6-7 games. Therrien wanted to send a message to the whole room, unfortunately a the expense of Montoya who took a severe beating out of it.
Now, before we jump to any conclusions, lets see how they respond tonight at home against Philly. If they come out flat ans lose or get carried to a win by 40+ saves from price this could get ugly before long. But If they come out strong and outplay the flyers and win the game people will forget about it. Teams still 9-1-1 |

Holder' now.
Is it possible, that Therrien didnt put Price in to shoulder the blame, to take focus off how bad his players (with the exception of Price) have played the past 3 games?
By not putting Price in, he took the focus solely on himself taking all of the distraction from his players.
Is it a possibility? is all im saying...
-----
Therrien is a good coach, Ive said all along he can make a non-playoff team, a playoff team -- but I dont think he conquered how to get them to be a Cup Winner... this was the situation in Pittsburgh before Byslma took over.
Not sure what the season brings, but lets get real, the Habs will regain footing a bit and continue to rely on Price and still easily make the playoffs as long as Price is in the net and this 10-0 game will be forgotten... so Habs fans, dont even worry about it. |
